Pyre instead of saying devoured/drowned/drowned and devoured….I would think it would be easier to say devoured and/or drowned Lol.

They didn’t. The original mermaids, the Sirens of greek myth, pretty much just dragged sailors down and devoured/drowned/drowned and devoured them. Leastaways I’m pretty sure that’s how it worked…
