I was wondering if that would happen.

If the airship could hold his weight, then it is simply a question of weight distribution. They could rig up some kind of harness, and he could hang out dead center below the ship.

No, not a lot of fun, but at least he’s along for the ride. And, he could serve a triple lookout / depth-finder / landing gear function while he’s down there. ^_^

Heck, bring some big rocks on board, hand them down to him, and he’s also your bombardier!
