Seriously, as a good person with quality of writing (And art!) like yours, 5X/Week even, you deserve a break when needed both as a (breakable) human being with other needs and an awesome artist.

I agree with Blaydh the neti pot is the greatest thing for a sinus infection. Or rather, nasal irrigation itself – a neti pot being one way to do this.

See, antibiotics are actually quite large, and they have trouble fitting in some of the tiny capillaries in the mucus membrane of the sinuses. This is why sinus infections are one of the hardest to kick.

A saline solution washes through the guck, and achieves two things – 1. the Salt water breaks up the thick mucus and flushes it out (meaning it can’t drip down the throat and cause coughs and whatnot) and 2. the Salt water creates an inhospitable environment for the bacteria.

You don’t even have to buy the prepackaged saline solution from the drugstore.

one heaping teaspoon of Salt (sea salt or kosher – NO IODINE – that stings like a %$@*!) in two cups of boiled water. Wait for it to cool, you want it body temperature – check it like you would a baby bottle.

Now a neti pots are designed for this, and thus easy – but really you can use any tea pot in a pinch OR – and this is what I used at first, a sports bottle with a pull tip nozzle on it, put it in one nostril facing foreward, tilt your head to the side and pour the water through.

Remember to breathe through your mouth while you do this – that closes the pharynx so that it doesn’t go down your throat and to blow your nose out over the sink.

It may be kinda gross, but you’ll feel SO. MUCH. BETTER.
