The rule is not whether or not it begins with a vowel, but a vowel sound. “A usurper” is correct. Just like “an hour” is appropriate, even though “hour” starts with a consonant. This is understandably much more confusing to those who are not native speakers of English.

When the following word begins with a vowel, the word is “an” as is “an apple”. When the following word begins with a consonant, the word is “a” as in “a cat”. Following this rule, this would be “an usurper” rather than “a usurper.”

i just finished looking over the last couple of pages again… ANd this is the first time that I ever noticed this… on the hilt you can see flying unicorns and an, I assume, angels, blowing on their horns… and I don’t mean the unicorns so don’t try and misinterpret it that way please
