Another fact: the ones who went East (mostly Swedes and Danes) were not called Vikings, but Varangarians. They founded Russia, particularly its first capitals, Novgorod and Kiev. They also reached Constantinople, and were hired to guard the Emperor.

I’m a fan of both Dreamland Chronicles and Porcupine Tree… somehow. Ha. The band got it’s name as a joke, I believe–even the creator thought it was silly.

So, we did speeches in my archaeology class today. And I learned a few good facts that you might like to know.
1) 740-1050 AD is The Viking Age.
2) The name of Thor’s hammer is “Mjollnir.”
3) Vikings were burried in their ships with all their belonings. Or had surface stone grave markers around their burial place in the shape of a ship.
4) Christianization of Scandinavia was from the 8th century-12th century. It took very long for the Norsemen to transfer to the Christian faith.
5) Only the raiders went “a viking.” They were the ones eventually nicknamed Vikings.

Lol. Dangerous dragon. No, I didn’t notice they were reapeats until you pointed them out. And even then, they are more like characters that spark in the back of my mind “hey, those look somewhat familiar…but I can’t quite place them…” So, no worries. =)
