But the fact that Dan was not permitted in to begin with shows that something else, independent of the sword, marked him for the role. We just have no idea what is was. It could turn out to have the ability to overcome the sword’s recognition of Alex. While there is no doubt that Alex is effectively king at this point, we just don’t have enough information about Dan’s original selection for the role to draw a sound conclusion.

It still comes down to the fact that Alex is the king. I am completely aware of the fact that Daniel can not dream, and could not enter Dreamland, but the sword does not make mistakes. Its wielders do, and it records them, but it does not.

I think it is high time for Alex to man up and take the mantle hes been given. Don’t know if there are any Narnia fans out there, but Aslan did not give the title of High King to those who thought they were ready. As a matter of fact, he purposefully gave the title and responsibility to teenagers who could learn and could be shaped into the tools he needed. The same is true here. Alex is the one who has been chosen, and he is still able to learn like a child.
