Kudos, Scott.
It is exactly what many of us loyal readers (of the first hour or of the last, doesn't matter) were waiting for.
No more words, just let the show go on (and on and on and on ...)

One cool thing for me, whether it's intended or not, is that the Dreamland folks look a bit different through the ripples of the pool. It's almost like seeing them for the first time, like Dan and Nicole are doing.

Again, that's just how it seems to me....

Ps: Alternate realities áre entirely within the realm of theorethical possibilities. It depends on the school of physics one advocates, string-theory, branes, multiple-universe-foam-bubbles, every action spawns an additional reality and whatnot, whìch model of reality is "real"

I am always reminded of Michio Kaku's explanation of the carp, looking up through the surface of the pond, wondering why there sometimes stíll is movement, despite the fact that his world ends there. Having nó inkling about that extra "dimension"

Ór Carl Sagan's explanation of "flatland" (yes, I juuuuust bought the entire "Cosmos" DVD-Box :) )

Keeping within the lore, I dó believe that Nicole is going to ponder the questions You pose.
Only problem: she'd have to start studying theorethical physics, with quantum mechanics and 11-dimensional calculus as specializations.

Nót something easily converted to an entertaining comic :P (unless one is of an extremely geeky kind)

I'll say that these last few weeks of pages, starting with Niviene peeking up through the water onward, have been exceptionally pivotal. Like, six whole years, all building up to this, the ultimate proof of "life on other realms" (or, in fact, proof of other realms, period) beyond the experiential, personal dreams of just one individual.

All the comic, up until this arc, suddenly feels like Contact (1997) after Arroway's 18-hour/split-second journey to another galaxy and the troubled aftermath where she has to justify a whole lifetime of research before the world. But now the experience is no longer just an experience, but also a truth within grasp.

At this point, I think the question would now become more incorporative of the exact nature of that grasp. Now that it is temporarily possible for the other realm (layer?) to be seen in this world without having to dream, is there a scientific measurement of such a distance? Can it be legibly recorded for posterity? If it could be reached, how would those in the story act most responsibly with such knowledge?

I think that from here on out, nothing will be the same for Nicole and Daniel as it was previously. Everything in their own lives will be touched and affected in some way.

It will be interesting to watch what direction you will take this story next. I think I found your comic over three years ago and I have been reading it ever since, especially because the idea of dreams as parallel layers or universes fascinates me. This arc vindicates my interest in your comic. Please keep doing what you're doing.
