Yeah, this is an instance where the dialogue doesn’t go the way I would expect it to. Rather than trying to make excuses for why they haven’t done anything about it, I would expect the reaction in the third panel to be something more like, “Like what?”

We don’t know that the sword can pass to someone in our world actually. We only know that it can change hands in Dreamland…and that potential kings cannot enter Dreamland while there is a reigning king. I think Alex is safe from necklace theft.
