Go to a museum that has some medieval weapons. The smithys of “old” were véry good.

The “thick” swords usually seen, are cheap, stainless steel replica’s, mostly from Pakistan and China. The better – functional- ones, Han Wei, Cold Steel, are quite thin and fairly flexible (ánd expensive!)
