You know, aside from the comic itself, having a nearly-daily log of what's going on in your life is great thing to leave for your kids. Almost like a diary on here. They'll go back and read through these in 10, 20, or 30 years, and have this window into how your life is now. Quite the treasure you're leaving for them.

Well you'd definitely have one subscriber right away! :) I figured you were rendering big but 2806x4208 is drool-worthy.

Imagine the thrill when a webcomic goes HD! Your name in lights! Another copy of Spiderman #3!!!! ... Ok I exaggerate -- probably.

Are you running a web tracker? (like statcounter)? I noticed from my experience that most of my site visitors are at least at 1280 x 1024, but I maintain industrial sales sites, so I'm not sure how much that affects the stats.

I think a poll would be a great non-invasive way of feeling out the potential for an increased user experience. Then again the response could be a resounding "no" from the general audience, in which case something for subscribers would be awesome (maybe a 'suggested donation' deal?)

Hey Tuxxyy...
Yes. I'm downscaling.
My render size for print is 2806x4208.
So going high def wouldn't be a problem.
I'm honestly just not sure if the audience would be there just yet.

Maybe I should run a poll or something?
Do a higher res version for "subscribers" ?

Thoughts?

And thanks for the kind words.

I've been reading this comic since the first (five page) update. For various reasons I find myself without long-term access to the internet for extended periods of time, so it's always a treat to come back and get an update on Alex and friends.

I'm glad to see the story arcing so smoothly, despite the obvious difficulties of working on the comic while enduring physical therapy and most likely mind-altering pain medication. I'm watching my father on the long road to recovery after a devestating injury, and it's inspiring to see you back in the swing of things.

I've been experimenting with rendering software since I first started grasping the concept of geometry, so it's great to see such attention to detail (especially lighting!) in your work. I'm running on a 1920 x 1080 (1080p) display, and I'm forced to zoom in a bit to get all the detail out of your comic, but it's great to see all the detail is there when I do zoom in.

I wanted to mention, I can see Kiwi's silhouette no problem, and with the backlighting this seems the obvious way to go. But, she does generate her own light, and although the source is from her body model outward, wouldn't the ambient light be enough contrast to allow her some color detail despite the "sun's" position? Just a thought.

Also, with newer monitors and graphics cards becoming more and more affordable, there's an ever-growing audience base with standard resolutions of 1680 x 1050 or even 1920 x 1080/1200/1440. I mention this because it would be a real treat to see these new resolutions taken advantage of, and Dreamland in HD (as it were) just sounds cool. Admitedly, this is just me being a glutton for more detail, but I implore you to consider the rendering time vs. the potential increase in detail.

I'm not sure if you're scaling down to display these online, but I would assume you are, which means you're probably already rendering these panels at high-res (Page 829 suggests you render these at 1024x768 per panel). Maybe it would just be a matter of posting the larger versions? I suppose bandwidth / server space would become an issue? Just starting the argument, if there will be one.

As always, great comic! I can't wait to read more of Chapter 14!

If you do decide to change some of the previous pages and remove their comedic value, I would suggest putting up a link to the original page, as you have done in the past. That way, it's the best of both worlds. I think it would be hilarious if you could find some way to work those panels into one of the books, as bloopers, or something like that (probably with dialogue changed to acknowledge or crack fun at the feather and the fart). I don't know if that's doable or not, but it could be fun.
