I like the fact that this page continues to show just how unselfish both of them are with things that really matter. Even after all of the fighting he had to do, Alex would like nothing more than to let Dan go to Dreamland and become its king (which I admit, I would love to see happen). It really shows Alex’s maturity, which will be necessary for him as he continues to lead Dreamland.
But does Alex really want to be king? I know he wants to stay with the princess (who’s name is so long i can’t type it out correctly) but feels he isn’t the right person to be running dreamland.
I don’t think that’s quite the meaning, here… They’ve just finished saying how they managed to take down Nicodemus, with Alex placing emphasis on how Dan’s plan was so great. So when Dan congratulates Alex on a job well done, and that he can now be king, Alex turns the table and says that they only won because of Dan’s plan. To which Dan replies that, bruises as proof, it was Alex that laid it all down, that put his life on the line, in order to win.
Those bruises serve as proof that Alex is totally committed, totally willing to do whatever it takes to bring about the welfare of Dreamland. Those bruises give him the right to stand tall, unashamed, and not merely be embarassed at how ‘unworthy’ of the kingship he may have thought himself to be in the past, and how it should have been Dan all along, instead of him.
Regarding the page, I think that lake_wrangler has quite an issue here: They are acknowledging each others merits in tking down Nick, and Dan’s reassurance on bruises probably means: “Heck, Alex, no other could have done it but you. It was your choice and this is your win, too”
Isn’t there some loophole in Dreamland-Law so 2 brothers can be king? That would be the best of both; Brains&Brawn.
Aaand…we should also ponbder a way to get Dan and Nicole to dreamland (if ionly because i am a sucker for mushy “ooh I missed you so much” scenes, that are undoubtedly going to follow if Nicole&Felicity finally meet en face
The best leaders on average are men and women who Don’t want that position of leadership, but accept it over time…Even if that were true I’d be scared if dan were wanting to become king.
I agree: Dan is saying that, though he came up with the plan, Alex was the one who executed it. I think that it’s more important to have someone who is good at executing the plans as king than the good planner–he can be an advisor.
You two are so great together. I sincerely hope that for years – decades, even – to come, you remain role models for a healthy and happy family relationship!
