Don’t forget the ties between Britain and Brittany–even its very name is a reminder that in the 5th or 6th century many Britons fled their island before the Saxons to settle in the West of France. So of course!
And that line about it being true–it was from Wikipedia? ROFL!
So I have a theory where this story is going. The gang fly to France in the real world, figure out a way to restore Merlin to human form, and so begins an adventure of Merlin in the 21st century.
Go figure, in yesterday’s comments I guessed where the pool would be viewing and even how it would look.
Since I’m on a roll, I predict that tomorrow Scott Sava will win the MegaMillions jackpot and send $1,000,000 to each of the first 25 people to comment on today’s comic.
Powerball is up to $250M. I think I’ll buy into that and then do a coin toss for either Martin’s for the pulled pork basket or Judge Bean’s for the brisket.
I don’t play the lottery, but if the mere act of posting a comment is good enough to win (provided Scot wins in the first place, of course), count me in.
Because the caah payout value is “merely” $150 million. After taxes it would bw about $90 million. You would end up $60 million in the hole…………but with some very happy fans!
I may have missed the conversation in the prior posts, but if Alex emerges into the real world in France, does his body still stay asleep in the lab? Or world he dematerialize in one place and phase into another? Or would he be having an actual OBE/soul travelling experience (as Dan intimated in Chapter 3)?
Niviene had to cast a spell to cross for a rather short time scale. It’s quite possible she wouldn’t be able to cast it “for” anyone else, or that a sleeper would not be able to cross (or would be drawn back into Dreamland before waking up, still bound by its rules.
Of course, the “yes you can” answer might be more interesting, especially ones that revolve around teleportation. Guess we’ll be waiting and seeing — there should be some reason why she’s showing them the pool. Either Alex is going to have a field trip in the waking world, or someone’s going to go through.
OR….they go into the real world and Niviene sticks the sword of kings into the tree so Alex may wield it in real life and become rulers of both worlds!!! (thereby destroying Planet Druidia and saving Planet Spaceball)
Hmm. We’re all guessing on Merlin getting freed…but it’s never been mentioned whether Nivienne knows the spell to do so. It’s possible Merline was supposed to sense the right time and free himself. In which case…let’s hope he’s not asleep XD
I don’t think Alex could penetrate the surface anyway. The water looks “solid” like it’s frozen over, and Niviene and Merlin had to combine their magic so she could come into our world.
Hey, wouldn’t this be Nastajia’s very first glimpse of Alex’s world?
Can she peek out for a look around our world for once? I wonder what SHE thinks about this odd turn of events! After all, up to now, only Alex has crossed worlds and now maybe she can look around without having to fall asleep first!
woah, you are right…if that’s the case, Alex could bring Dan to the pool in real life and he would finally get to see the people that mean so much to Alex.
Coffee grounds are supposed to be good compost. Someone could mix a bunch of grounds as a soil additive around the tree. A good rain would wash it down to the roots.
*Merlin cooomes to the 22nd century. Merlin coooomes to the 22nd centureeyy-eeyyy. “WATSON!” *buahahahaha* Merlin coooomes to the 22nd century, Merlin cooooomes to the 22nd century!!!*
France…it had to be France…. X) Nothing wrong with France. Some of my fav cuisine is French.
I like their comics as well! Asterix, Barbarella to name a few!
yea, like fries!

Sounds like a series pilot soon to be aired on NBC.
Oh, Alex. You and that crooked smile yet bewildered smile of yours. So charming.
Too many smiles in that sentence…

I like that idea!
Though…how about the first 150 people?
I don’t play the lottery, but if the mere act of posting a comment is good enough to win (provided Scot wins in the first place, of course), count me in.
Hmm… Lottery by proxy, I guess you could call it…
Because the caah payout value is “merely” $150 million. After taxes it would bw about $90 million. You would end up $60 million in the hole…………but with some very happy fans!
I’m not greedy, i’d be fine with $600,000
You’re a saint, Joey.
I really like that idea!
I’m with Jake. Gimme some of dat money
Also…France? Why not Germany? ):
Because it’s Arthurian myth? Which means it’s tied to Great Britain and “Little Britain”?
Don’t worry, we’ll see Germany if the story pays a visit to the Nibelungen or the Lorelei.
Yeah, France! and more precisely “la Bretagne”. Land of magic and mysteries.
Il n’ya pas d’agent ici

Maybe it would create TWO Alexes! They could team up and solve crimes!
I’m really wondering about this, too… it’s mind boggling.
Well, i wanted to sound witty and quote Austin Powers about paradoxes but frankly I can’t remember it exactly…
… so bottom line, just go with it! [staring at the audience] and that goes for you too!
(I remembered a little)

ROADTRIP!
Does it still count as a roadtrip if they have to cross an ocean?
Lancelot was French. Some of the Arthurian epics happen in France. So yeah. France.
Of course Lancelot was French. Why else do you think he had that outraaaaageous accent, you silly king?
LAUGHS! Oh, my tummy!!
OR….they go into the real world and Niviene sticks the sword of kings into the tree so Alex may wield it in real life and become rulers of both worlds!!! (thereby destroying Planet Druidia and saving Planet Spaceball)
And thus Stargate Command France was built!
*laughs* Gotta love that show. But one problem – this gate doesn’t go to other planets, just other dimensions.
Maybe so, but Dimension Gate Command just doesn’t sound nearly as cool as Stargate Command.
France. sweet

Im just making sure Im one of the first 25 comments. Just in Case Scott DOES win the Jackpot tomorrow!!!

Ooooo!!! Good point! I hadn’t thought about Nastajia’s first glimpse of our world.
woah, you are right…if that’s the case, Alex could bring Dan to the pool in real life and he would finally get to see the people that mean so much to Alex.
when/if Merlin wakes up, he is gonna need a couple cups of Coffee²
actually, make that a couple /dozen/ cups of coffee²
Coffee grounds are supposed to be good compost. Someone could mix a bunch of grounds as a soil additive around the tree. A good rain would wash it down to the roots.

Technically should be 21st, but *sniff* memories…
Yup. That’s what I was thinking too.
