I bet you’re right, it makes the most sense storywise. also it’s gonna be a “big reveal” so yeah. also, if they could get to our world, Felicity would be able to really reconnect with Nicole and Dan would be able to enter dreamland to takes his place as king.
Yeah, it makes sense with the fact that they’ve been missing and also that they might have gotten access to the portal. Still a lot of explaining to reveal how they made the portal work. Maybe Abaddon already has it working and he was just waiting until he knew the location of Alexander in the human world before revealing his army’s existence?

The problem is, they’re both Elves. And they’ve been missing for some time. Unless they just arrived in the waking world – just in time to save Dan and Nicole – then you’ve got the problem of how two people with ears that stick out a mile and no modern job skills could have survived and hung around Dan and Alex’s home town for a while without being found out…
While it would be great that it would be Nastajia’s parents, that would mean that the portal was again operational, and thus controlled by the nightmare realm. meaning we probably would/should have seen bad things in the waking world already.
Was also thinking about Merlin, but he is trapped in a tree in France that I’m sure Naviene watches closely… I would be very surprised if she didn’t know about him; though you could possibly argue the attack on Naviene released him.
this is my thought…According to the hieroglyphics, the portal was closed suddenly, and while they make mention on the Humans in Dreamland, and the nightmare creatures in our world, it also makes sense that other Ambassadors from dreamland were trapped here on Earth.
I think descendants of the original ambassadors (or if long-lived, the ambassadors themselves) have been tasked to guard the tree and have been doing it for 600 years.

ooh…be their Mom be their Mom be their Mom! That would be AWESOME! and might make sense. I mean, shouldn’t Dan and Alex be from the same family line as King Arthur? Wouldn’t that mean dreamland is family knowledge? Also, their Mom is the only “mundane” character, which is a little suspicious…

I don’t think the kingship of Dreamland is given along a bloodline. Too many different people from all over the world have been kings of Dreamland. Any queens, I wonder?

When I think about it, Staj’s parents make a whole lot more sense, but Merlin was my first thought too, indeed if for nothing else for how it’s said. Can’t wait for Monday!
If it’s a magic user, why are they using arrows instead of magic? I don’t remember anything about Merlin being a great archer.

judging from the arrow head and the flight arrows, it elven made i think we might have just found naj’s parents or one of them. that might have made to real world that would explain why nev was being pulled under the water since she was almost out the water and her body was solid before she got pulled back in..
so either its naj’s parents minus one father and the mother survived the ordeal from nightmare realm to help the king of dreamland in the real world

I think this is the best cliffhanger yet! I’m trying not to guess who it is because I usually can and I want to be surprised, but I think you did a very good job with mysteriousness man! so now to end with a monty python quote…..fifth panel “There are some who call me… Tim…” (you know the rest)
Since Dan emphasizes “are” it really makes me think that it’s someone he knows, and that he suddenly has many reasons to question someone he’s close to. My guess is that Alex and Dan’s dad is somehow King Arthur, because we’ve Arthur in flashbacks that Alex only heard as story, and since we’ve never actually seen their dad, he could be Arthur and not know it. It would explain why we’ve never seen their dad. I’m pretty sure that at the very least that their mom is somehow involved in Alex’s involvement in the Dreamland, since she is the one who sent the sword necklace (along with the teddy bear and Hockey cards, which I think were just thrown in there to appear that she was sending the stuff merely for sentiment). Though, this could mean that she’s the one off-frame, but I’m sticking with Arthur. aka Alex/Dan’s dad.
oh my, you better reread the sequence in which Alex as a boy gets hold of the sword and gives that big ugly dragon his first scratch. ^^
I did reread it before posting this and just did again and can’t figure out how it contradicts what I said. Do you mean the statues? Because I doubt Alex as a kid would really be looking closely at enough at each statue to notice any resemblance to his daddy.
my first thought are that it cant be any know people of Dan, and reading about the possibilities of Naj’s parents, i was starting to think the same.
But now i think about it a bit more you also can say “Who are you?” when you see a known person, doing thinks you have never thought about it before.

I know EXACTLY who it is! Making a cameo after his prime time television debut…it’s (green)ARROW!!! He had been Dan’s next door neighbor for several years before departing to the big city to make a name for himself in the lights. He’s home now to check on his cat and water his plants. He just so happened to have noticed strange, dark creatures stalking a young man and thought he’d go all Scooby-Doo and investigate. Hey, this sounds more plausible than than the Doctor and Martha.

Let’s consider facts. Whoever it is is a master archer, able to send arrows out quickly and SO accurately (putting an arrow through the throat of the monster attacking Dan with such precise force that it killed the beastie but didn’t keep going and hit Dan bespeaks near superhuman skill). The sight of Nightmare Realm monsters suddenly breaking out into sight brought immediate attack, not shock, so whoever it is knows about the NR and is an enemy of it; indeed, maybe he was there not because he was watching over Dan and Nicole but because he was hunting monsters. It’s someone Dan doesn’t know, which would probably rule out Mom or the usual depiction of Merlin. And he likes to shout…
Aside from that, I’ve got nothing.
I’m hoping for Arthur or Staj’s Parents in some way… I’d like to see Arthur have a better end than being trapped in limbo up until he was released by Alex drawing the sword.
I’m hoping it’s Nicole’s ex-boyfriend and he was secretly aiming for Dan.
But seriously, though, it’s actually explained in the part where the Guardians speak of the portal. Denizens of both the DL and the NR were stuck on Earth once the portal was destroyed. I’ve still got nothing but at the very least, this mystery person appears to be guarding the King. Niviene must have tipped him off and he was sent to protect the King in this world. (or she)
Dan: “Who are you?”

I think it are at least 2 , maybe 3 dreamland creatures. Most likely centaurs or elves, left behind during the War of the Gate in Egyptian time.
You all seem to be assuming that ‘you’ can only be singular, whereas Dan could have been addressing a whole army!

My first thought was actually centaurs, which if I’ve read correctly no other comment has brought up. That or descendants of those humans the centaurs contacted with their message bag. Some of the other theories people have mentioned are plausible too.
Of course, now I see Seebo did in fact bring it up. Oh well.
My only thing is that Dan is looking DOWN at his rescuer, so for me it is someone more on the shorter side; like a halfling or a dwarf.
