I think some of it is a side-effect of reading one page at a time. I also think (as I’ve stated before) that some of it is forgetting the perspectives of those who are proponents of Dan taking the throne. They all have come into the story after either a long time of being in seclusion or hiding, and all of them spent their time prior to said seclusion/hiding in an effort to ensure that the True King gets to have the throne. It’s actually only natural (when you look at it that way) that they’d forget their compassion in their haste to “finally make things right.”

That bugged me- Nastajia said the sword declared Dan king, but three pages after the one you linked it explicitly calls Alex the king of Dreamland. Not acting king or steward or regent or anything- king. Even if it later did call Dan the same, that’s a contradiction that has to be addressed.

Interesting thought… if Alex could prove himself a worthy King, would he get a power boost as confirmation? Also, if he and Dan found a way to share the throne, would each be half as powerful as past kings?

It’s not so much that, it’s more that Alex can’t enter dreamland without the sword, so unless they get the portals running, there would be no way for Alex and Nastajia to be together once Alex has handed the necklace over to Daniel.
