Ooh, that castle looks awesome. Is it just me, or does it look like the Disney castle?
i agree, it really does… ive been there.. to the disney castle that is
It looks like a Star castle! They were my favourite toys as a kid!!
Ahaha, it’s so girly looking. o_o
It does look rather Disney….I mean it looks like the Polly Pocket Disney Castle I had…
What is the point of having a castle in a world where everyone can fly? Fortifications are supposed to hold sieges, and if people can fly they can just pwn a castle from above, like that flying pirate ship. It would make more sense to use dungeons with many hidden entrances instead.
it could be that it’s hard to fly AND fight at the same time….
but i think the pirate ship would kinda make the walls useless….
This reminds me more of those fairytale castles
I think the point of the castle was just to have a nice place to live for the king and queen. I don’t think a dungeon would have been nearly as nice a place to live. And it does not look like it was made for defense either. There are not even any walls
It looks a lot like Neuschwanstein Castle, a fantasy turned reality, built by a man who was insane – King Ludwig II of Bavaria.
‘Course, by the time Ludwig was building castles, they were about as useful in our world as they would be in places people can fly, like Dreamland. . . .
Being at the top of a tree is a fairly good defense. Still, the high outermost wall and the limited access to the interior are there as well.
I’d say a Barbie castle.
@Xenoth: Uhm, actually, you’re kinda wrong about that. Defense was the first prioity for castles, and they really weren’t all that nice to live in.
However, that has no bearing on a dreamworld castle.
Besides, that’s really more of a “palace” than a “castle”.
Yay, a pretty princess castle.
I wish they still made castles.
Since it is all pink, it reminds me of the castle from the “My Little Pony” TV show, just a little…
i hope she unfreezes soon… this is depressing
I think it reminds me of my My Little Pony castle that I had as a kid. All it needs is Spike the dragon =P
Defense /was/ the highest priority for castles, before–say–the 1300s. As it became less common for lords and nobles within a particular area to attack each other, castle design became more and more elegant and decorative, and less and less martial. Siege was no longer a concern, and aesthetics were.
In a world with minimal threats, it would make sense for whoever created this castle to make it a pretty piece of unmartial frippery. Which it definitely is. Location totally aside, look at those floor-to-ceiling glass windows and the lack of an outer wall or two around the grounds…
not to mention i doubt they have cannons here. which were the final blow to castles being practical…
If you kind of squint you can see the “Century 21″ sign near the bridge…
It looks like the Cinderella castle of those kids toy castles! The ones you had to unlock with a key and there were little people inside, and you could take the towers off of some of them.
And the Cinderella one had a dancing thing and a courtyard and a hide-away room for the horse and cart!
Aww. Childhood memories! Thankyou!
i was always upset that the only toy castles for guys were legos……
oh and i think tht “all hail” would get irritating….
I’m thinking czar Russia palace more than protective castle…
It’s good to be Gangster Barbie
good lord it is pinkish purple!? noooooooooooo!!!!!!!
okay, i can understand not wanting grey stone, but PINKISH!?
well, at least its not mine….
Well, it IS an Elvish castle/palace/compound/whatever. Not meaning to stereotype, but elves do seem to be more in tune with their… fabulous side. That and, might very well be some form of magic lets the current ruler change the color or shape of the place to suit their needs. Nastajia is fairly feminine for a warrior queen, but definitely has more of a ‘frugal’ thing going on, so a small, but cuter castle might be more suitable for her.
Violet is the colour of royalty.
Hmm… or was it purple?
A note on the color: look at the background sky in the first panel. It seems to be near sunset. If the stones used in the building were polished/reflective, it makes sense that the building would come across as pink-ish at this time of day. Not saying the place is covered with mirrors, but I think its appearance somehow changes with the sky.
