Arvamas: "No. If he did he would have undoubtedly found the tablets and destroyed them...then run up our cellular bills downloading apps on it."

Xspace, normally only put the emphasis on one word in their sentence if they do at all. In this comic there can be two, even up to four things in bold. It's annoying for me, at least. It's like when somebody send you a MeSsAgE tYpEd LiKe ThIs.
It messes up the character's voices for me. :P

What's with this "problem" with bold emphasis? I don't get what the big deal is.
Personally, I'm grateful for the emphasis as it helps me voice the characters' words in my head when I read it. This way it sounds more realistic to me and I get a clear picture of the emotion and speech patterns.

Then again, when I write I often have a tendency to over-use bold text for emphasis, so I'm probably rather biased.

To an extent, yes. But you get emphasis, and then you get pushing it way over the limit of grammatically acceptable.

The emphasis follows the speech pattern of the individual character involved. It's how the author hears the voices and he's trying to convey that to the reader.

So.....

Nicodemus gains posession of Nastajia's parents' amulet shortly after their disappearence...

And NOBODY finds that suspicious?

Okay, Scooby and Shaggy, you search over there, Velma, you lose your glasses over here, and Daphne and I will search the Mystery Machine for a clue...

Even Sonic the Hedgehog had more than I could handle, but lately it's gotten better, especially with the new series, Sonic Universe.

You guys obviously haven't read enough comic books; they ALL have random emphasis. It is very annoying but after 15-26 of reading comic books, I've gotten used to it =P Although Dreamland is really pushing it...
