comics for May 22, 2007 – 05/22/2007
I would like to point out…(I I know where these names came from) that Solomon came BEFORE David, David was his son….
Actually, you have it backwards, Solomon was the son of David.
Lol .. 😀
Doesn’t matter either way. Time isn’t linear in dreams.
woops I mean to say “if I know” 😛
Actually, no. To avoid any confusions among other readers I’d like to point out, that Bible definetely refers to King Solomon as King David’s son.
And I think that’s a really great idea)) I like the growth of connection between two worlds in this story, as well as I like any connections between our great rulers and some fictional worlds. Thank you, Scott!
King Arthur…. must read stuff
Oh… so naturally only the famous ones with written accounts who did stupid things get to be included?
No mention of Asian Emperors though.
Actually, there were two Solomons, one before and one after David. And did you know King Arthur was really a celt?
Wait, just to be clear, you mean one Solomon from not Israel and one Solomon from Israel. (also I don’t remember another Solomon from any nation before David)
There are not two Solomons, there is only one, the son of David. Did you guys even read the Bible before posting?
Some of us aren’t Christian or Jewish.
An excellent point.
Close, but no cigar. Arthur wasn’t quite a celt; he was either “Romano-British”, a Roman-Celtic mix, or he was just an influential legionnary by the name of Acturus. No one’s really sure.
So if you don’t know .. why post? It’s hilarious reading the ‘fails’ though!
Off topic(sort of). There are some beliefs that Sonic the Hedgehog is King Arthur.*if no one beat the game I’m refering to, that was a SPOILER!*
David? David Copperfield was in Dreamland? That explains what he did in his adult years…
What, you mean Claudia Schiffer?
ALL HAIL KING MORE!
ohhh….not biblical cra- *ahem* stuff
So Dreamland is ruled by only Middle Eastern and European rulers?
pobably aztec mayan and other great “new world” leaders
maybe, haven’t seen a djinn yet
I love how Scott includes some of the most famous and richest kings of all history, and all some people can come up with “Oh, great, not Bible stuff.” 1) Though I may not necessarily have appreciated the humor, I didn’t hear anyone crying “Why are you making fun of the Bible and Islam, Scott?” when Daniel was researching that stuff earlier and poked fun at those books MAYBE having some answers, but he turns around gives credence to the historical facts contained within, and suddenly a whole bunch of people are up in arms. I love the intolerance of tolerants….
Not to mention that it’s just a quick reference to some well known kings for story purposes for a comic that is meant for younger readers to be able to understand.
Maybe it just took them this long to figure out what to say on how to poke at the bible and stuff?
He did *not* make fun of the bible at any point.
But I do find the people bothered by the bible stuff a bit amusing. I’m no Christian, but I noticed *very* early on that this story had christian undertones and I kept reading anyway. Why should that bother me? It’s not like when one reads Percy Jackson and the Olympians one says “Oh, great, more greek myth stuff”.
You seem quite focused on the bible angle.
Ain’t seen Scott mocking anything so far… though I’ll always be one of the first to pipe up when religious stuff needs mocking (and when does it ever not?) …
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! King David and Solomon too? AWESOME!!!!
And they were saying the Bible was a longshot before. HAH! Came back to bite him in the aft! X3
Hm, David, huh? Wonder where Bathsheba comes in…
yay anthor person who spells my name the same!
I hasten to note that many people have had those names in the past couple of millenia.
