I would have pronounced the “A” as a separate syllable like “atheist”. Maybe they are lacking culture or were when they named the place.

Aethos…. interesting name. The word “ethos” (same pronunciation) means “the characteristic spirit of a culture”. I wonder what the ethos of Aethos is?

Getting the tall structures up actually wouldn’t be that hard. Ever seen a barn-raising? Same principle: if you have enough people and enough rope, you can build just about anything at ground level and then hoist it up and brace it. Add some simple block and tackle for the heavy stuff, and you can get some pretty tall and complex stuff up without ever leaving the ground.
