In other news today…
Donna and I went Christmas shopping for ourselves today. It was odd going to a mall. Just the two of us.

I have to say. I’ve not felt so old before. Going into a place called “BELT” I think it was…I found a jacket I liked.
But the place was filled with 16-20 year olds with spiked hair and cool clothes and such. All the clothes were so….HIP!
I felt SO out of place. And if I picked out ANYTHING cool…Donna would say “You’re trying too hard!”
UGH.
I wound up getting a jacket that I think is nice looking and young looking. But doesn’t make me look like “I’m trying too hard”.
It’ll get wrapped up and put under the Christmas tree for me from Donna and the boys.
She got a new watch…and on the way out…we picked up a SHAM WOW!

I don’t know if you’ve seen the commercials for these things. But Donna’s been intrigued by them for so long…we just had to pick them up for her.

So…that’s my story. I went shopping at a mall. Felt old. But got a jacket I liked.
Donna got a watch and a sham wow.
It’s not exciting…but it’s a good life.

Paddington is too cute for words! My local mall is 95% clothing stores, and 85% of those stores are catered solely to the young and hip. Yay Kohl’s.
I know what Sham Wows are. They’ve intrigued me for a long time, too…
Do the Shamwows work? I’m curious, since they seem like they would be better than paper towels.
Haha, I completely sympathize about the jaket. As a teenager I was never bold enough to wear something outlandish or dye my hair, and now that I would do it if I thought it would look good, I would be way too old to carry it off.
We shall have to stick to creating characters with cool cloths and funky hair cuts. 😉
Alex and Paddington have the same reaction I do to really bad jokes.
I wonder if pixiegirl (who I forgot the name of – I’m not good with names) knew that Paddington was having dance lessons. I’m sure a ten-foot tall boulder would make a lot more sound then some adolescents laughing. Or centaur kids falling on their butts.

Scott, there are so many styles out there I wouldn’t worry about trying to match them. Not to mention a lot of them are just ridiculous and probably won’t last very long anyway. As for a Sham wow, I’ve never even heard of it. Though I don’t get to watch tv as I’m stationed off the Caspian Sea.

honestly, I’m only 25. But I feel old a lot. I can’t imagine how I will feel in another 25 years. I see 16-20 year olds out and I can’t relate to them or their styles. I am just another blue collar worker trying to make ends meet.

Ya, as we get older it’s harder to be “hip and cool” without looking silly, but it’s do-able, ie: cool jackets. ;-D

Scott, I feel your pain. I can remember when “Members Only” jackets were the cool thing to wear.

When I was in my early twenties, I got a gift certificate for the Bon Marche (since replaced by Macy’s). I went in to buy some clothes and the sales guy said I had the taste of a 40 year old. I looked at him and said, “Great, then when I’m 40 I’ll be in style!” I’ve never worried about what the “styles” were, and I never will. 😉
