If I recall, the sword was intended for the next true King of Dreamland, and Nickodemos, who couldn’t free the sword of it’s pedestal, was keeping all human kids away from it until Alex came along and got it. The sword was meant for Alex. What would happen should someone else go to Dreamland with the sword and it’s lost again. Alex is an adult and cannot enter Dreamland without it; besides, like King Arthur, he’s meant to be the next rightful Human King over Dreamland. I think it would be irresponsible for him to just let anyone else have it even for a single trip. Orion said adults could make the trip through dreaming or vision quests but it was mentally and/or physically draining.

That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

And the final scenes, added with the fact that Nicole had been back on numerous visits, only to find NO Felicity. What reason did Nicole to return any more? Her friend was gone, the parting was a very scary dream, so why would Nicole WANT to come back, especially at the age when it all happened?

Nicole is older now, like Alex, and has demonstrated a prior ability to enter Dreamland, where Daniel has not. We’ll have to see where Scott takes that thread in the story, tho’.
