A man’s gotta know his limits.
That’s what I always say.
Thank you all for being here with me this week. I’m so glad you’re enjoying it.
Have a wonderful weekend. And we’ll see you on Monday!
What man has ever known how a woman thinks?
I’m not convinced that women know what a woman thinks half the time either.
Never tell my wife that I agree with you.
I’ve actually had that confirmed by several women on numerous occasions…
Too true. I’m a woman and I can tell you I almost never understand how other women think.
And then you expect men to understand women ?
Stopped trying to understand looooong time ago : )
We are both happy now!
I’m with ya all the way! I, too, pretty much never understand how other women think
So, that being said, I don’t even know how I think sometimes!
”So, that being said, I don’t even know how I think sometimes!”
well that is almost certain about most women. We love you anyway though 😉
[it’s gonna look weird saying that with my avatar]
I have nine sisters, okay – yes, nine with an ‘n’, an ‘i’, an ‘n’, and an ‘e’ – and I still have no clue how a woman thinks.
Perhaps you have no idea what they are thinking, but I am sure that with nine sisters, you sure would know how to treat a lady! lol
if he didnt there would be nine beatings coming his way thats for sure……
I don’t even know what other MEN think, let alone women! Maybe it’s my autism.
This theme of men not understanding women, plus its reverse (that women cannot understand men) is one of the reoccurring themes of the characters in the mega-series “The Wheel of Time” by Robert Jordan. And all of them are convinced that the other characters have a better understanding of the opposite gender, or at least how to handle them well. Not to mention that other people are braver, more collected, more expert and so on.
i really like the wheel of time series -and this web comic! – hahaha, and its themes make my day, though the constant repetition of them gets a bit much at times. How many more times can Rand, Perrin, and Matt say “women don’t make sense?”
Well, he needed something to take up twelve-plus books!
How does that internet meme thing go? Oh yes:
Wheel of Time = Best. Series. Ever.
(RIP Robert Jordan )
Women think? I thought they opened mouth and babbling conmenced. j/k If my wife knew i said that, she start babbling me to death just to get even.
Yes, we babble sometimes, but we can think!
Finally, something they can all agree on!
Are those chapter forward/backward buttons new, or have I just not been noticing them?
They are brand, shiny, new!
though they should be on top of the comic–so if I miss a couple days I don’t get spoiled while trying to scroll down to go backward.
There is one on the top right.
There’s also a bookmark tool.
I LOVE IT! Alex’s acknowledgement it just priceless!
First step towards bettering yourself is to admit your limitations!
However i do know some people that DO know what a woman thinks.
It’s hard and the damn thing changes with the moon and the alignment of the stars 😉
Man, these last few pages have been really good–I like how the plot is moving along…things are getting done! The 2nd to last panel made me laugh especially. I love Nicole’s and Dan’s expressions as they answer him. X3
Love the Thundercats t-shirt
I was thinking the same thing! Heck, I actually have that same shirt, well, it’s black with the logo instead of gray. But still.
And this weeks comics have been great!
They didn’t have to think long for the answer.
Maybe Felicity isn’t only guilty about Nicole – after all, this was so long ago. She could also be guilty about betraying Alex and his friends, and possibly other Dreamlanders. Guilty about working for Nicodemus the whole time.
Hopefully, Nicole’s letter to her will help her somehow though.
Alex’ pants look weird here.
I think the problem is you can’t see his knees well, so it looks kind of ackward
It’s because the underlighting sets shadows on his upper thigh where you don’t normally see them, I think.
Knowing thy limits is a useful asset in this realm of existence. Be proud Alex for you are one of the few who born with it.
@Sythiar: That’s true but knowing that her childhood friend is still out there and doesn’t want her to do this to herself HAS to have some effect… Of course there’s the possibility that the betrayal of the gang made her forget how he lost Nicole, and now that she’s reminded she will want to die even more… But hey! Don’t let my stupid pessimism mislead you! She can make it! If Frodo survived the journey to Mount Doom and back, then she can survive the journey to self forgiveness and back!
I like this whole sequence. Alex may be wrong about her exact reaction (my guess is that it’s more that the immediate betrayal — that she was, in fact, a spy in the group for Nicodemus — which BUILDS upon the old guilt that she’s never faced), but he’s taken a positive, active role and come up with a method for Nicole to contact Felicity, even though Nicole no longer goes to Dreamland. Good work, Alex.
that was my exact thought!!
I still think Alex should try and find a way for the others to join him in Dreamland. Maybe falling asleep holding hands, or bringing back a Talisman for each of them to wear, like he has the sword.
Vincius De Morais (the guy who wrote the girl from ipanema) once said:
Mulheres existem para serem amadas, não para serem entendidas
Women exist to be loved, not to be understood.
Pretty much sums it up.
If there was a ‘like’ button for the comments, I would liking this all over the place. Fantastic book, great quote!
I agree, Pirate. If we understood one another fully, what fun would that be?
My life became sooooooo much easier once I got that lesson.
tightehwhitehz xD I always imagined him as a boxer kinda man, alex
Loved it !!!
And Good Morning!
Funny! That’s all I wanted to say. : )
GAHHHHHHH! Vile Cliffhangers! I wanna know if this works already!
No. It totally doesn’t work and FELICITY DIES.
… of course it’s going to work! But we all want to see how it works. 😉
men doesn’t know anything about woman…. that’s the way it’s supposed to be!
How boring of a world would this be if we did?!? (and visa-versa for that matter)
Men won’t ever REALLY understand the female mind, and, yes, vise-versa for that. We’ll never understand the other genders’ antics, just like we’ll never fully understand all the other species in the world’s antics.
It indeed IS the way it’s supposed to be.
I am a woman and even I don’t know what I am banging on about most of the time. I figure bc I have no idea what goes on in my own head, it’s really not worth trying to figure out male’s either. lawlz~ I honestly think it works both ways.
Ok you know your a good writer when you have people trying to predict the future to keep themselves from going insane due to cliff hangers!!!! Great work scott can’t wait
Guys tend to think in one or two word sentences.
Keeps things simple.
Not that I would know, but it seems like you men do from the way you act…
Not Karl Rahner, or any other German academic!
I thiink Felicity’s whole problem is that she spent most of her life under Nick’s claw, and twice now Nick has gotten invovled with her good friends and inadvertantly chased away Nicole and if Alex didn’t insist to stand by her side, then Alex and crew would have abandoned her too. Considering the great emotion that Felicity had when Nick showed up in Hilmdel, I imagine that she also had fresh, vivid, and extremely painful memories of Nicole’s great friendship and how Nicole was torn away from her, and Felicty felt that she could never have friends of any kind because Nick would always come in and ruin things for her, so she figures why bother setting herself up to meet friends in the future and just end it all? (Bad idea, Felicity, BAD!
But Alex has been her friend and forgave her for everything for a long time now, and even Nastajia has seen the light, but if that’s not enough to snap her out of it, I think contact of any kind from Nicole will encourage her. Besides, I think all Dreamlanders know that one day they will have to let go of their human pal but I think that’s a gentle process of no longer coming every night but a few nights, and then poof! No more human pal, but to disapear so suddenly, like Nicole and Alex did, it leaves a scar, which messed up Felicity and Nastajia for a while.
I never thought I’d say this, but I miss Nick. Watch he’ll scare the hell out of me with his entrance, like his last appearance. Will he show by the end of Chapter 14, Scott?
We still don’t know what the Centaur wrote to Alex’s brother either. Perhaps it will contain steps for him to begin his journey to Dreamland himself.
In the meantime; I often don’t know what I’m thinking…let alone my wife. HA!! Alex’s admission was classic.
I’ve often wondered about Dan myself…I wonder if he’s not supposed to be either a) the true King of Dreamland (given that he and Alex ARE born of the same stock, being twins and all), or a sort of ADVISOR to the true King, given his extensive knowledge and desire to learn about the kingdom.
I hope Nicole doesn’t have a problem writing this note, time’s a wastin’.
Hmm, Nicole, Nicodemus. You ever notice you don’t see those two at the same time anywhere? And she wears glasses, could be the classic Clark Kent disguise where she takes them off and all of a sudden is a massive dragon . . .
I don’t think so. Didn’t we see Nicole talking to Nicodemus in her flashback? Maybe not both visible from our perspective, but surely Felicity and the guards could see both…
I still think it’s the glasses…
Nice Clint Eastwood quote there, Scott.
Where did he say this?
I stopped years ago assuming that I know ANYTHING about women. LOL
I cant wait to see what Nicole writes!
Oh my goodness…the sticker on his shirt…I just now noticed it…
I LOVE YOU 😀
Love you too!
Might I just say that Dan’s shirt is awesome? =D
I guess that’d be ok, go ahead and say it!
Ha ha! ^.^
I have this shirt. One of my favs.
Wow, at least Alex is honest. 0_0;
Comedy in danger of someone dying, I’m surprised that you pulled it off, very nice :).
Twitter no worky.. If you’re still looking for a threeplayer game with everyone on one screen dust off your wii or get your GCN out of storage and play Balders Gate: dark alliance. Actually might be two player.. Still worth playing!
Thanks. I’ll check it out.
I love the shirt. Hello my name is: Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
I just watched that movie the other day. LOVE! 😀
Your comic is awesomesauce
One of my favs too (Princess Bride).
oh dude, this page is so funny! i love how blunt they all are about his ignorance, giggle…
It’s cute how Nicole and Dan answered in unison ^^
Yes, but Nicole knows whereof she speaks. Dan just thinks he does… 😉
Understanding women is easy:
“Think of a man, then take away reason and accountability.”
( – Jack Nicholson as Melvin Udall, As Good As It Gets )
(j/k, ladies … )
I just noticed that Dan’s shirst says
my name is
you killed my father
prepare to die
and there really is a shirt like that too
We are governed by our hormones. Plus we like to care for other people, which pretty much goes directly against survival instinct. So we like to be protected and loved, but also respected. Seems alright. One thing you can say for us is that we haven’t started many wars.
Try something like, “Hi Felocity, I’m not dead. I’d prefer you didn’t die either.”
Men NEVER know what women think, and they never will.
