The Dreamland Chronicles Chapter One
Welcome back to Dreamland!
For those of you who enjoyed the original 3D series… I am so glad to present the retelling of our story with artist Tracy Bailey bringing new life to a comic I began writing for my newborn twins back in 2003… and completed in 2017.
With over 34 million readers to date on this site… I wanted to bring the series back with Tracy’s beautiful art. Her work brings so much more life to Dreamland than I ever could with 3D software.
As proud as I was of making this comic every day for 14 years… and completing this epic 2400 page story… I am thrilled to see it in Tracy’s style.
As Tracy has already completed the first chapter on Patreon… I will be posting 5 days a week in hopes that we can get more Patrons to help us pay her a living wage to update 5 days a week.
Thank you all for being a part of Dreamland.
And for those of you new here… I hope you enjoy the adventure!

I literally just finished re-reading the original run (again) last night, haha! I’m surprised you’re posting on here again.
What do you plan to do with the original run? Because, warts and all, some of the CG scenes were pretty well done (and pretty intense for CG detail).
Also, do you and Tracy plan to add any additional panels or scenes now that CG won’t be such a pain as it was over those 14 years?
Looking forward to this new run!
Thanks Harry!
I’ve archived it away. I love reading all of the comments and I still have the books as well. It’ll always be a part of my and my kids life. It was an amazing adventure.
Tracy is going to retell the story with her style and I’ve made a few fixes along the way.
Ideally… if we can get enough support on Patreon… I’d like her to finish up the entire series and then we can start NEW adventures in Dreamland.
It’s up to how it goes.
Good to see the comic back and looking forward to reading the pages with new artwork. Are there any other projects coming we might be able to look forward to? Maybe a follow up to Dreamland or a totally new story?
Thanks. I’ve been working on some Dreamland things. Hoping I can share them soon.
I think the next project from me would be the release (FINALLY) of the Animal Crackers movie.
I followed the original run for many years, until it went in a very long lapse, and was never ended as far as I could find.
I would appreciate, if the story WAS finished, to find a link to it; It is definitely not part of the ‘Archive’ link, and my old link to the last page I read arrives to the main page here.
The story finished two years ago and the site has had the complete story here ever since.
I only just removed it assuming you had all read it in its original form.
You can get the entire series of books on Amazon Kindle Unlimited for free (link on the right).
Let me know if that helps.
And thank you for reading.
You can never assume everyone has read it. π I don’t think I found the final chapters with Tracey’s art for over a year after they started.
It looks like the ebooks are only free if you pay $10 a month to Amazon for Kindle Unlimited. Otherwise, they’re $3 each. I’m okay with that, but looks like I’ll have to investigate options be able to read them comfortably. :J I’m only really comfortable reading on my big screen, these days, but there’s no Kindle app for Windows. I could learn to screencast my Android tablet, but the Kindle app for Android is spammy, which will give me a headache. π If there was a Kindle app for Windows… oh there *is*. It’s well-hidden! Well, I’ll give it a try, but I’m expecting it to be spammy too. Oh, and then there’s the possibility of obsolescence, like you had with your rendering software and models, Scott. Kindle for PC is so hard to find, without even a download link on the page from which you “buy” it, that it suggests they want to phase it out. The WWW isn’t so likely to go obsolete if you don’t go for the “Web 2.0” craziness, which you haven’t here. On the other hand, perhaps Amazon will only phase it out when they have a Windows Store app to replace it. You can never tell!
Sorry for all the detail, it was a lot for me to process. It might just possibly be worth it for the Dreamland Chronicles. π I would just buy the print versions instead, but I have to lay on my back a lot and can’t hold a book up.
Ugh, Kindle for PC is worse than PDFs! When I scroll a teeny bit too far by mistake, it sends me completely to the next page. If I then scroll back just a tiny bit, it sends me to the top of the previous page. There’s no ‘continuous’ option which eases this problem when reading PDFs. I’m sorry, Scott, but it seems Kindle ebooks are just too awkward for me personally.
– eekee
Anyway, Tracey’s art is as lovely as ever, which I meant to say in my first comment, sorry. I see a dialog tweak for the giant on page 11 which made me smile too. π
I use the kindle cloud in my browser
Same as eekee, both Kindle and the Amazon system are no good to me (also on PC, no good ebook reader there).
Furthermore, I am NOT in USA but in Europe, and neither Amazon FR or Amazon UK (I have long standing accounts with both) seem to offer it.
Yeah, it’s a bad reader. I did read through book one in this thing last night, but a couple of days ago, when I was feeling worse, I don’t think I could have managed it. It helped that I’ve read Dreamland Chronicles at least 4 times, so it didn’t matter too much if I missed some bits.
Anyway, I’m in Britain, but amazon.com let me download it anyway. Click my name for a link. (Maybe they won’t phase it out, but don’t want to invest any more into it.)
At least there’s a way for me to get a Grandpa Pistaccio icon to replace my Kiwi avatar. It would be more appropriate for what I’m saying, wouldn’t it? π Maybe I won’t; I’m starting to cheer up again, these days.
Totally Understand.
Here’s just the PDFs of ALL of my books. I hope you can enjoy them this way.

Wow! Thank you so much, Scott! All the books… π I’m sure I can find a PDF reader to suit me; I have in the past.
Thank you VERY much!
Thank you for releasing the PDFs!
There is a minor issue with Book Eight: the front and back cover pages are larger than all the rest… This makes navigating somewhat cumbersome. Any chance you could fix that?…
PS. I still don’t quite understand though why you took the web version down? It’s not like it would hurt in any way to keep it on line, would it?…
Also, since I can’t comment on the original, nor read past comments, I’ll have to put my questions here:
1. This is not spelled out: but I guess the implication is that mom can also use Arthur’s bracelet to visit Alex in Dreamland?…
2. “Tanbury Hills” is the only place on the map that doesn’t come up in the story. Was that intentional, or is it the result of some change in plans along the way?…
3. There is one aspect of the story that doesn’t seem to quite add up: both Nicodemus and the Sword of Kings must have been aware of the story of Ramses II. Given that, a) why did neither (apparently) bring this up with Arthur? And b), why did Nicodemus seem taken by surprise that Abaddon was again plotting to invade Earth now? Am I missing something here?…
4. Last but not least, how on Earth did you get all these talented people to help you working on this over the years?! π
I can answer 3b: Nicodemus didn’t think Abbaddon was intelligent enough to make plans; he thought it was like an animal or a swarm of animals. I think he believed Gilgamesh died long ago, which is reasonable. I guess he thought the pirates were bound to instinct like the rest. Abbaddon was intentionally hiding its intelligence, so I’m sure it would have made the pirates behave in very predictable ways and seem unable to learn.
Guessing at 3A (because I love to guess ;)), maybe the sword wasn’t made until after Ramses II? Or maybe it just doesn’t tell things it isn’t asked about. Nicodemus doesn’t seem like the best communicator. Many human fathers will insist their children listen to them, but won’t say why they feel the way they do. I think it was policy in previous generations, in some cultures at least. Nicodemus seems a little better than average there, but not nearly up to Jesus Christ’s standards, for example.
I think I found some association for the Tanbury Hills, but can’t clearly remember.
Thanks, I will start downloading them now.
One question: looking at the pdfs names on that list, there seem to be books one to eight (in letters), and 8 (in number); is the last one a naming error ?
Incidental note: this interface is glitchy; saw this happen on other sites, happened to me and other people: sometimes you post a reply after having selected that is is a reply to previous post… and instead it comes out as a new post in the thread.
What browser do you use, Fafhred? I use Firefox myself. I don’t remember ever seeing this bug, although I’m not the most prolific commenter in the world. π
Same, Firefox; this glitch does not happen often, I have seen it happen maybe 10 times in total, over a number of years.
Ah, that makes sense.
I guess so. I think I just named it and uploaded it (wasn’t for public consumption) and didn’t check the others.
Just a technicality: the “Home” button for some reason leads to page 19 now, which is quite confusing.
It leads to the front page which shows the latest page. That’s normal enough, happens to be what I’ve always found most comfortable. π
Oh I wonder if you’re seeing what I saw a few pages ago, where the same page appeared for 3 or 4 consecutive updates? That was confusing! I don’t know why it would be different for different people, but anything is possible with some software.
I lost touch with Dreamland some years ago, after enduring some hardships in my personal life. It looks like I picked a good time to reconnect; I’ll enjoy rereading this wonderful tale as it comes out with Tracy’s magnificent art, and perhaps reconnecting with some old internet friends along the way!
?
I barely read comics online anymore and I’ve already read this all the way through buuuut! I think I may give this a re-read since it’s being redone! Eventually. Might just binge it on and off? Ya!
OK, i read up to this point, but i could’ve swore there was more to this story when i last checked on it when i was still in school about 8-10 years ago. After looking to the side and recognizing the art i remembered, did i see that you are just remastering the series into a more cartoon-y look than a 3-D look.
Either way, i’ll be looking forward to the remastered versions of each chapter.
Just wow! Keep on posting!
I looked for one on facebook but couldnβt find one, I would love to become a fan!
Great chapter, heading to the next one!

Just revisited after a long while to start re reading. Are the old one’s still somewhere to read?
I love the story, It takes me to my dreamland fantasy, my childhood imagination comes back. Nice one!
I really love the illustration, where can I read chapter 2?
I have to build closet in Atlanta for my mother, after that I can read all the chapters of this story.
This first chapter was really. It had me to get really excited to start reading the next chapters. I’m currently staying in moab utah vacation rentals while reading this wonderful piece.
Thanks for sharing here an interesting post. website
The Dreamland Chronicles focuses on the existence of a “real” land of dreams, populated by a variety of standard, even stereotypical, creatures such as little flying sparkly faeries, gruff underground dwarves, noble aloof elves, Neverending Story rock-people, and so on, but to which humans can travel in their dreams.
The animation for the clock in the intro and outro is absolutely amazing
