The Dreamland Chronicles Page 95…
And that’s the end of Chapter 2!
We are updating Chapter 3 twice a week on Patreon (click image below) and when that’s complete, I’ll resume daily updates here.
Thank you all!
Please don’t forget to support Tracy’s work on Patreon. The more we can get… the more pages she can produce a week!
It’s an 8 year endeavor at that pace and if you can support her in any way… please do so here…
I hope you are all safe and well during these crazy times.
And don’t forget to vote for us every day!
How could they tell the difference? 😉
VERY precise instruments, probably.
His brother will have similar comment. 🙂
How’s everyone doing? Staying safe and healthy, I hope.
?
Doing well, thank you! Hope all of you are hanging in okay.
Chapter 3 is coming along well on Patreon too!
Came back here to see if the comic was ever finished after the long hiatus. Happy to see it was, but I’m honestly bummed to see it’s losing its unique style that had drawn me in to begin with.
Welcome back, Munch!
I understand how you feel. It was Scott’s unique 3d style that initially drew me to Dreamland as well. But it was his storytelling that kept me here. And don’t sell Tracy short; she’s a fantastic artist!
?
Welcome back. I totally get what you’re saying. And thank you.
But when I started Dreamland in 2003, the technology was so difficult and I had to push the machines so hard to get a fraction of what I wanted out of them.
There were frames…and sometimes whole pages where I felt I nailed it. I got it.
But for the most part… it was always a struggle.
Tracy, on the other hand, retells the story with ease and wonder.
I’m more than happy with the improvements.
That said… I DO hope that one day soon… I’ll be able to do a 3D Animated series.
I was here when the series finished (*tear*), came back to visit to see if Scott was up to anything new. Now I’m gonna have to make sure to keep checking in to see when this “3D Animated series” comes up. You can’t take it back Scott. You planted the seed, gave us hope, can’t take it away now. 3D animated series!
Thanks for the great work through the years. Ever though of adding a webpage tab to keep us up to date on your other works? I’m sure there are many others that would love to support your work in other mediums. It’s hard to keep up with the comments.
I too, enjoyed the 3D style of the old comic, and was disappointed at first, when the story was finished in 2-D instead. But I loved the story enough to keep reading, to see where it would go. And I was not disappointed in that regard. The story was just as compelling, regarding of the style.
Now, I look at this run of the comic as a younger sibling. It bears a strong family ressemblance, yet is its own being. Just as we loved the older brother, the younger brother deserves a chance to show us what it’s capable of doing.
Will it be different? Of course. But I believe we can still appreciate the differences, in the end.
In the 3-D run, we had grandiose scenery, with a high level of detail, and limitations as to how much expressions Scott could pull out of his characters, because of the limitations of the rendering software itself. The camera was pulled back, seeing plenty of the scene surrounding the characters.
Now, we have characters which are more organic, less stiff, not bound by the limitations of software, who show their emotions more easily, and slightly less details in the scenery. The camera angles are different, the framing is sometimes different, and we get more closeups of the characters.
The first run felt somewhat cinematic, the second run feels more cartoonish (and I mean that in a positive way). It is a more “classical” comic than the first run, with the dynamics that come with the medium.
So far, the pages follow the same storyboards as the original run. That may change, as time goes on, particularly since Scott has said several times that he encourages Stacy to do so. But whether that happens or not, the differences and the similarities, mixed together, are bound to make for an interesting story.
So for those who already know the story, I think it will be interesting to see the younger sibling grow up and find its own place in this world. To see how it ressembles its older sibling, yet is a distinct being.
And for those who have never read the original run of the comic, let us not disparage the younger sibling so much as to detract from the readers’ enjoyment by causing them to feel they have missed out on something better.
She’s right on soo many levels.
Indeed! ?
I’m curious: is your name intended to be “usb light” or “us blight”? Because those are two very different things! ?
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
…
Sorry. My enthusiasm got away from me for a moment there. Carry on.
?
I’m just here because I’ve seen an ad for Animal Crackers on Netflix and I remembered that this is a project of yours and how much I enjoyed The Dreamland Chronicles!
Just want to express my heartfelt congratulations!
OHMYGOD the Dreamland Crew is in the intro! The voice talent is amazing (“Fly, you fool”)! And the movie is allround heartwarming, funny and a total success!
The plot is a little see-through – I won’t spoiler anything here – but that’s okay in a kids movie. The characters are great and the development of the action is just sooo well done! I wish the german voiceover was better, but the english original is an absolute riot.
Love it.
I’m in a similar boat… I had not been here since the first chapter was completed. I saw the ad for the Animal Crackers movie, which I watched last night. I wanted to congratulate Scott on his accomplishment, and figured it would be easiest by coming here to do so (I posted about it on the next page).
Of course, being here, I had to catch up on the comic, which was most enjoyable indeed.
I wish both versions of the comic were available. It’s so sad that we finished the comic, then effectively deleted it and started over. Which begs the secondary question of if this is gonna go a different way (in which case it’s even more upsetting the original version is gone) or if this is gonna be a straight retread (which didn’t really feel needed just because the ending had a different art style).
This is the same story. Just with newer art.
If you’d like the original comics… here they all are for free.

I like the way you have shared it here. Thanks for sharing it. cool
