I am a marine biologist.

What she has are just pelvic fins. Claspers are specialized portions of pelvic fins found on male elasmobranchs (sharks, rays, etc). She does not have them.

They both have marine mammal style tail fins (horizontal).

Yes, dolphins are mammals, and mammals breathe air.

Remember where you are folks – this is Dreamland. Merfolk can have gills to breath under water, and dolphin-like tails – no problem – as Helusanation said, it’s Cryptozoology.

Now you know, and knowing is approximately 3/7s of the battle!

Actually, they both have dolphin tails. So the shark rules don’t necessarily apply.
