oh, I know how it is in the countryside. grown up in a VERY little village. :)
11pm during a week, and all streetlights went dark. (1am on a weekend)
tried to walk home at 2am once. that was HARD. I can see pretty well in the dark, too. but there was no moon, only stars. but the milky way was pretty. ;)

Yes. What a beautiful comic that is.
I wish I could link to it permanently as I love it.
But I think the nudity makes it impossible for my All Ages audience.

This has been an interesting chapter, to put it mildly.

Alex and Nastajia have needed this time. For however long they've been in the Centaur village, it's been a time to adjust, to take stock, to assimilate their experiences. They will all be different people when they leave - not complete in the changes they're going through, but ready to proceed.

I'm only guessing, but I foresee dark and desperate moments in the times ahead, when the memory of this interlude will help them meet the challenges to come. It's too much to believe Nicodemus has been idle while they've been absorbed in their learning, but for the moment they've had a measure of relief from the pressure of events cascading down on them.

If Alex is a bit nervy at the moment, well some of it is Alex being Alex - but I suspect some of it is also Alex being aware at some level that things are about to change again, and that the interlude is drawing to a close. Irrevocably. There will be no going back once they read the tablet that has been waiting for him. I have no idea what Nastajia will say next to Alex, but I imagine she's feeling some of the same expectations and fears. It sounds like a paradox, but some things are seen and felt more clearly in the dark than by light of day.

And Scott, if you feel the need to take some time off so you'll be able to do full justice to the story, by all means do so without worrying about it. I suspect Alex isn't the only one who is feeling a little unnerved. ;-) You've got some powerful story telling to do after this period of set-up for the revelations to come.

For what it's worth, you have my amazed admiration for what you have accomplished to date, and my anticipation for what is yet to come. Ave atque vale to the Centaur Village; bon chance with what is next.

Don't worry at all about taking a break; most webcomics would have taken 20 years to get 1000 pages.

yeah, my BFF is like that. Take an evening walk with her into the woods, be silent for a couple of minutes, until her happy babbling sort of falters and then give her the "silence of the lambs" snicker. I have to admit that the amount of "vertical acceleration" a female can attain, if sufficiently spooked, can be quite impressive ,to say the least. After that, I heard a "whoosh" and my left ear suddenly started to hurt quite bad.

I know, I know, boys are incorrigible in that aspect.. sorry...
