Hey all…
Sorry for being scarce this week. With Donna’s Birthday and her family out visiting…it’s been tough to get around to comment.
Also. I wanted to post a big thank you to Jonas Klose from Germany.
He just sent Donna a very nice birthday gift and it actually brought a tear to her eyes.
I’m touched that you all have been so kind to us. And just want to say again how much you all mean to us.
You’ve been so supportive over the last 3+ years and as you may have noticed… I don’t like referring to you as “fans”.
I haven’t come up with a proper name yet.
Maybe Dreamlander, Fellow Dreamers, etc.
But thank you. You’re so much more than fans to us.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Oh…and next week. Nicole!

Hmm… is that a silhouette I see on the ground…?
‘gulp’, it does look like an ominous shadow…
Looks like a tree to me.
Trees are treacherous beings!! Ask Durkon…
OotS FTW.
Ooh! I like “Fellow Dreamers.” Sounds all warm and familial.
Also: LOVE the “Happy place” quote. Made me think of “Hook” and Peter’s first flight.
“Wait, I got it! Not being in this slingshot!
”
Oh wow. That’s still one of my favourite movies
Hook is the best! >.> lol
I don’t Know, first thing that came to my mind was Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore.
I immediately thought of Hook too! Woo! I love that movie, and seeing that quote in this comic has completely made my day! Yea, Scott!
Hey, all.
Saw this fantastic piece of paper artwork and immediately thought of the image of Astoria on the top of the page you are reading. Does anyone else see the similarities?
http://tinyurl.com/ygk2wmr
Why yes…. it does!
Beautiful!
Wow! That is just gorgeous.
That is so darn nice its beautiful the second picture sublime
Wow! It’s just… Wow!
Thanks for sharing this link!
Ahhh??? AMAZING!!!!!
Astoria totally needs a Ferris Wheel!
Is this where the training montage starts?
Better get “Eye of the Tiger” on the jukebox then. Heck, make it all Survivor!
Soon. And Eye of the Tiger is cued up and ready to go!
I predict we are all going to be seeing a mostly silent montage of Alex getting tossed or jumping off a cliff for a few days. If I am wrong, then let the levitation training begin.
Torn between Dreamlanders and Fellow Dreamers, and the fact that Orion didn’t mind that Alex simplified something again slightly pushes me out of the “Orion is an expletive” camp, but since who knows how long “two weeks” can take, I might slip back in.
*snicker*
“Happy Place” = grown up features of hot girl… ( )( )
… Well, he IS a young guy! I know that’s my hubby’s happy place LOL!
LOL! You have a very clear point there! XD
Yup. Very good point.
“Sad But True Limits Of The Male Adult Mind” should be a book already. I think that concept is covered in maybe the first chapter? I am not going to claim or deny that I am thinking the same thing, but its pretty much the only way I am normal… Speaking of which, there is no real normal.
Awwe. We love you too.
I’m liking Orion more with every page, by the way.
Cue the “Eye of the Tiger” music, ’cause it’s time for a good old fashioned 80′s training montage!
I don’t know Eye of the tiger is good and all but does it really suit Alex? He isn’t very confrontational. Besides Eye of the Tiger has been a little over used. How about we go with Joe Esposito’s You’re the Best?
I was thinking “War” by Edwin Starr. Any of them would work in my opinion.
“I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Disney’s Mulan?
Heh heh. Happy Place. That is such an Alex thing to say.
Oh, and I vote for Dreamlander. It has a nice ring to it.
I like “Fellow Dreamers”. It reminded me of that Kermit song, you know, “the lovers, the dreamers and me….”
Is that song actually by someone else? Anyway, that or just “Dreamers”.
The Rainbow Connection
See the Info here for more information, while you listen to a great quality posting of the whole song!

Dreamers
Dreamlanders
Dreamland Community
Dreamlings
I’d go with ‘friends’. But thats me
I was thinking the same thing, Moley… we’re all friends here who bear a strong interest in one man’s growth and journey in Dreamland.
That said, Dreamers is a nice term.
And ‘Happy Place’ – sorry, I’ve seen Happy Gilmore WAAAAAY too many times. The nightmare scene keeps popping into my head. Augh!
Ha ha.
Actually. Funny coincidence. The screenwriter for the Dreamland movie also wrote Happy Gilmore.
Then we can expect a lot of biting comebacks.
*laughs* That’s funny… small world, huh?
Hehehe…. Along those same lines, as in most Adam Sandler films… Hope the point actually gets across. [below]

Paddington, watching Alex practice flying:
Come on, you can dooo eeet!
Oh the irony… I can’t help but think of a movie that I have forgotten the name of, two lines are still remembered though. “Come on, you can do eeet! Bite his (expletive here) head off Ozzy!”
You are thinking of Little Nicky
Thank you Dannie. I was having trouble remembering what it is. It was annoying for me, to not remember it.
I agree with “friends” as well, even though that might be too familial and as you don’t know most of us I can see why this term wouldn’t fit.
Dreamlanders does it for me as well. Dreamland Community sounds a bit like a church.
LOL I can see it in front of me now:
“Dear Dreamland Community we have gathered here today to witness the union of Alexander Carter and Nastaija in holy matrimony…”
Oh and my vote is for Dreamers with or without the Fellow part
How about the Naruto themesong from way back- Fighting Dreamers?
oooo ooooo I like dreamlings. Can I be a dreamling *grins*
Love the page Scott. You do great work
I’d LOVE “Dreamlanders”! It reminds me on “Highlanders”.
I vote for fellow dreamers… and once again, Alex seems to boil down the entire arguement to one simple place. Ain’t gonna say what or where that place is, all I know is it’s his.
I also second the love for Hook. Some people may not like it because it turns Peter Pan into an adult, but you know what? I don’t blogging care. It’s an excellent movie, and it has one of my absolute favorite actors; Robin Williams.
Love Hook too!
Beautiful movie!
Hooray for “Hook”!
“And the big ones are supposed to look after the little ones!”
sniggerfitting……was i the only one who saw this coming? who else out there saw this coming because I know I wasn’t the only one.
happy place.
sniggerfit
i just noticed,no human children are coming to eathos?
You’re right. We haven’t seen human children in a while. I hope that doesn’t mean they have all been abducted to the nightmare realm already!
Am I the only one who is curious about what Donna got for her birthday?
Nope! I would like to know too. :3
Me three. I can’t help but laugh at the phrase “happy place.” Curse you Scott, I don’t like laughing this early in the morning!
A gift card for Amazon. And a set of Peanuts books.
Some how that seems like overkill to me. Peanuts plus Amzaon gift card to get the other Peanuts. ARGHHHHH!! I can’t get Peanuts out of my head. Curse you Peanuts!!
Heheheh “happy place” God I haven’t watched that movie in forever. It doesn’t help that my tape is worn out. But I wanna know what Donna got for her birthday too. Incidentally, Happy Birthday Donna!
See above.
How about the “Dream Chroniteers”
Pretty cool. A cross between “Mousekateers” and “Rocketeers”
I like that as well!
Hey Scott. First time I comment on your page. Happy b-day to Donna!
Just came around to tell you how much I love Dreamland.. I’ve been checking it daily for about two years now!
Congratulations and keep the good job.
And I hope to see a Dreamland Movie someday! That would be “orgasmic”
lolol! happy place =D, that’s rather adorable
I personally like “dreamlander”. Makes me feel like I’m part of the world of the comic. Or something
I also really the developments in the story lately. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Alex handles things differently from now on.
I don’t know, I think I can live with fan and I can even live with customer. Although if you could get my son and I into Dreamland, I could be talked into acolyte…..
Good morning all!
We’re getting the kids ready for school.
Just wanted to say hi. And thanks for the comments.
Oooo!! I like Dreamlings too… although it does kind of make it sound like we should all be about six inches high. lol! I don’t think it matters too much what name you give us. We’re just a bunch of crazy fans who are totally enjoying the ride. You’re one of the sweetest guys I know (of course MY Scott is the most sweet, lol!) and Donna is so kind to share you with all of us. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful comic and for sharing yourself with us as well.
Okay, enough mushy! If we are going with the 80′s montage… you’ve gotta have Alex running up a huge number of steps, and yelling “Nastajiaaaaa” at some point. ;D
Arrgh! Now I’m torn between “Dreamlings” and “Dream Chroniteers”!
Hmmm… Dreamlings does have a nice ring to it…
i just LOVE the pulled back shots of the first and last panel. I know that *most* of the time we have to focus on characters …BUT i just LOVE the bigs shots with background and scenery that just makes me feel like i am IN dreamland!
Thanks!
yaay! Alex got his happy place! If only I could find mine…
Sisgood suggested on earlier. . . . .
Funny, just in the last hour, I’d been thinking about the different ways we call people from places ending with “land.” Iceland => Icelander and New Zealand => New Zealander, but Finland => Finn, Ireland => Irish(wo)man), and England => English(wo)man.
Oh! Oh! I know! Radical Dreamers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D8Cz9kHYFQ
….I hope the link works, it’s been a while since I’ve done html, and the little hints at the bottom of the page don’t look like what I want….
From Chrono Cross? Heck yeah, that’d be awesome.
Yay, it worked!
Scott, you said we are more than fans and I want you to know we feel the same about you. You are so much more than just the author of TDC. You share your life with us and we all really appreciate it. I read a couple webcomics but no other authors are nearly as open and personable as you.
Thank you Lemmy.
I really do appreciate that.
Sooooo, Scott,
If the Dreamland Chronicles movie comes out before the end of your comic, will we see oodles of spoilers?
Oh, and good luck avoiding the pitfalls of Hollywood Accounting (see Wikipedia article on that subject).
The movie looks to only take a small portion of the story. So hopefully the movie does well enough to see sequels. And there you’ll see the rest of what’s in the books.
That makes me feel better. I was afraid of TDC becoming what happened to Eragon.
I can’t find any polite words to describe that movie in regards to the source material.
Eragon was a good movie but I don’t think they should of called it Eragon.
…What else would it be called?
I read the original book series, Eragon the movie failed. I will only mention one thing for those who haven’t seen it. Take the Ice Queen from the Narnia movie, add color to her cheeks, transpose to Eragon and replace lines. I saw both and read both book series (yes I am a nerd, but I am also a geek), both left out lots of stuff from the books, that I don’t mind. What I mind is with apparent laziness in the movies. It ruins normally good “stand-alone” movies.
Kinda like how Starship Troopers the movie should have been called something like Big Fight in Bug Town? The CG animated series was a hell of a lot more deserving of the name, regardless of character changes.
I prefer something on the order of maybe like comrades, or maybe just friends…
“Friends of Orion” or “Friend of Bognok”.
We could start some turf wars between different rival groups of TDC fans!
Heh… that’d be interesting. I’ll be part of the Order of the Sword!
How about everyone else – friend or foe?
This is reminding me of a community I used to be involved in for another webcomic. Got to the point where we had developed our own stories distinctly separate from, but still technically coexisting with, the main comic story.
As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the “Happiest Places” on the internet!
Looking forward to seeing what Nicole is up to now…
I don’t know, maybe it was the quote marks around “happy place” or the italicised “Ha Ha” but somehow I read Orion’s reply to Alex as if Orion was trying hard to be polite. Hopefully Orion’s patience will last out.
I love Alex’s “Happy place” face
An appropriate name for us? Lemme see, we know about your real life even though we only follow it on the internet, we send unsolicited gifts to you AND your wife on her birthday and we know the names and ages of your children. What do you call that, oh yeah, WE’RE STALKERS! RUNAWAY, RUNAWAY! (oh come on, I’m kidding!)
Dreamanators? (hasta la vista, Nickodemus!)
Dreamformers? ( I get to be Dreamtimus Prime!)
Dreamlanders (“There can be only one!” Wait, someone already said this one? drat!)
Dreamanatrix (nothing funny, it just sounded cool)
The Dreamish Inquisition! (nobody expects the Dreamish Inquisition!)
Or something with a title built in, Dreamland Crusaders, Dreamland Knights, or the very best one ever, the one I haven’t thought of yet but plan on thinking of very soon!
Yeah, Dreamtimus Prime! That’s better than Dreamble Bee! LOL!
Hehe… Dreamtimus Prime
—
“You’ve failed me again, Stardream!!!”
“My most humble apologies, master!”
“You shall live… for now.”
Can’t think of a clever name for Megatron… though I’m mostly happy with Starscream’s ‘Dreamland’ name. I’d initially mixed it up in my head as Screamstar… and turned that into Dreamstar… then realized immediately that I was having a stupid-moment.
Happy place ROFL! It was fun to see Orion laugh, he’s not as serious as he portrayed himself to be.
… my two bits are… “Dream nighters” of the order of Scott, watching as he Chronicles the events in our homeland. Lame?
For the names lets see.. I like “Fellow Dreamers” the most, I don’t care for “Dreamlings”… “Friends”
is awesome
If we do get dubbed as “Dreamlings” or some take-off of dreams, does that make Scott the Sandman? (either “Mr. Sandman” by Pat Ballard, or “Enter Sandman” by Metallica fits)…
How about Sandman by Neil Gaiman? Hm. Perhaps a bit too dark. Though I also am not that familiar with the work, either…
I agree with everyone who says “friends”. We may not know you personally, but it feels certainly like you’re a friend after reading your posts for so long.
I vote for Dreamlander. And “Friends.” Friends is nice.
El Goonish Shive forum talkers are called “bunnies” (they actually voted on this.) I call my readers ninjas because they don’t talk much. XD And of course you have trekkies and the like. Group nicknames are fun.
finally caught up.
i vote dreamlander i guesh…………….
Has anyone ever thought about what Dreamlanders do whilst sleeping?
I haven’t come up with a proper name yet. Maybe Dreamlander, Fellow Dreamers, etc.
First thing I thought of when I read this was O’Shaughnessy’s poem “Ode” – “we are the dreamers of dreams”. Quoted rather famously in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”.
Why not just call us Dreamers? Instead of Fellow Dreamers?
Some of you guys wake up EARLY!
And some of us just don’t sleep.
LOL! alex found his happy place, now i love to hear when alex is in danger again to say. “find my happy place! find my happy place!”
I’m beginning to appreciate the sheer time and effort investment required to teach Alex anything.
I wonder if he was wearing sandals long.
I just love the Peter Pan/Hook reference with ‘happy place’. Also, I like calling the fans “Fellow Dreamers”. I don’t know if this was said above, but “Fellow Dreamers” sounds a lot like Stan Lee’s reference to fans as “True Believers”. ^_^ I wonder if that was done subconciously…:)
I feel like something weird is going to happen in the story soon. I don’t know why. I just feel like something is going to happen.
haha lol happy place! reminds me of a scene in Finding Nemo
“findahappyplacefindahappyplacefindahappyplace…”
poor starfish XD
Orion: “We have much to do to prepare you for the coming weeks. But first…”
*hours later, on Earth*
Nicole: “I don’t get it…his blood was clean before he went to bed, we were observing him the whole time, and we never used any medications…HOW did he manage to test positive for Marijuana?!”
Dan (scribbling a note for the medicine bag): “Dear Orion, what did you give my brother, and can you send me a sample? Sincerely, Daniel.”
Yeah, I know that mind-altering substances have been used by Native American peoples in coming-of-age rites and such…somehow I think anthropology may be lost on the younger kids.
Okay, I’d better stop before this turns into a Kevin Smith parody.
Thinking about beautiful Elf women definitely puts me in my Happy Place…
